Growing up, I was always fascinated by how people communicate and connect. This fascination found its early expression during my military service, where I learned the value of strategic thinking, adaptability, and teamwork. These foundational skills seamlessly transitioned into my professional life as I moved from the world of reconnaissance and planning to the dynamic realm of pixels, code, and user experiences.
My journey into the digital landscape began in the late 90s when I earned my Master's degree in Library and Information Science. It was during this time that I realized technology held the key to organizing and sharing information in transformative ways. This discovery ignited a passion for optimizing user experiences and driving digital innovation—setting the stage for a career dedicated to making information accessible and impactful.
The Journey: Key Milestones & Growth
For over 25 years, I've been at the forefront of UI/UX design, leading initiatives at the American Mathematical Society (AMS) to enhance digital engagement for a diverse audience of mathematicians and scholars. Whether it was redesigning our web presence or streamlining complex information systems, my guiding principle has always been to make technology accessible, intuitive, and user-centered.
As the digital landscape evolved, so did my curiosity. The rise of Artificial Intelligence captured my attention, compelling me to dive deeper into its potential. My advanced studies in AI began at Vanderbilt University, followed by the University of Texas at Austin, and most recently, Harvard Business School. My focus has been clear: to understand how AI can transform not just digital products, but entire organizational ecosystems.
The Present: Current Focus & Aspirations
Today, as Senior UI/UX Designer at AMS, I continue to innovate in design strategy, ensuring our digital products meet the evolving needs of users. Simultaneously, I am deepening my expertise in AI and organizational management, driven by a vision of how AI can revolutionize business strategy and decision-making.
